CHART: Let’s compare ratings & prices

Supermarket vs. 'Green' vs. DIY Ingredients

You’ve already seen the health ratings for quite a few popular cleaners along with the details behind their scores. In this lesson, you’ll see a few simple charts that show ratings AND prices, so you can quickly see what you’d pay for cleaners in each category: supermarket vs. 'green' vs. DIY.

It's a rough comparison: Given enough time, I probably could have found ‘Green’ Cleaners priced roughly the same as the supermarket cleaners. It’s not impossible (I did find a few)... but it is pretty tough. I also tried to find bulk sizes, where possible, to be fair when comparing supermarket & green cleaners to DIY prices. Again, sometimes I was able to, sometimes not. (I used Amazon to choose the product sizes & find pricing, since it’s the one place you find everything.)
Also, the below chart contains affiliate links. This means, at no additional cost to you, we will earn a commission if you click through and make a purchase. This helps to cover the research costs over at greenopedia.com. Thanks!

I cheated a little!

Did any of those ratings surprise you? I know I was a little shocked. But I admit it... I cheated a little! I purposely chose products for the ‘Green’ Cleaners chart that have low ratings, because I knew they would shock most readers.

To be fair, each of the brands you’ll see on that chart (including Clorox) has products that rate well. I purposely excluded them to take yet another opportunity to underscore what I hope is your most important takeaway from this course...

Please don’t ever assume that a product is safe, just because the label says so, the brand has a good reputation, or because you found it at Whole Foods. ALWAYS CHECK TO SEE WHAT’S INSIDE.

Ok... ready to make some stuff? Let's do it!!
